College Ambassador Program

The College Ambassador Program guides young women professionals as they unlearn the debilitating, preconceived notions of what it means to be a woman in the professional world.

CAP primarily works with students of color and allies of marginalized groups. The program admits women in high school and college who face various systemic barriers. Some of these young women include traditional students, non-traditional students, parent-students, and at least one homeless youth per year.

Over 50% of our students return for more than one year in the program. CAP students have graduated from a number of prestigious universities, such as the University of Washington, Bellevue College, Eastern Washington University, Washington State University, and the University of Michigan.

About the Program

CAP is a leadership and community service program for exceptional, diverse, and mission-aligned upper-level or Master's students to facilitate the Girls on the Rise leadership program.

Sixty college students have graduated from the program since its inception in 2016. These remarkable young women have pursued Master's degrees in programs such as film and public policy. Furthermore, CAP graduates have found meaningful and successful careers in areas that are purposeful to them and impactful to their communities.

All students receive 1–5 college credits and a competitive wage.

“I thought, I'm good at A, B, and C. That's all I'm good at. Then Kela told me, 'No, you're also good at all these other things; you just haven't tried them.' This program is great for younger people who don't know exactly what they want to do but have the ambition and willingness to learn.”
